Goin' Up!

Yesterday, we were at Nick's parent's new home and there are about 15 stairs to get up to the home. It's a little townhome that's all one floor but it's on the second floor. Well we were in the garage looking through Christmas stuff and Neacel was crawling around and getting to be a mess. When Grandma left, to go up stairs, Neacel wanted to go up too. I just sat that watching him, as he stood at the bottom stair hitting his hand on the next one. He never has tried to go up so I didn't worry at all.

Then all the sudden, there he goes crawling up the stairs! As he went up, he would hit the next stair with his hand, everytime. We joke that he was just making sure it was there and sturdy! We don't have stairs in our home for him to learn and we keep him away from stairs because he will just crawl off the edge, literally (he has done it before)! So it was a shock to see him go all the way up.

I had just read earlier this week that kids this age can go up the stairs, and I thought Neacel will be behind on this because we don't have stairs in our home for him to learn. Yeah, he proved me wrong! We are so proud of him and how independent he is. He is full of energy and has a huge personality. Not to mention his temper or hitting, throwing tantrums and pinching! It is usually over wanting our food or not liking being told 'no.' But that's something we will share another day!

Working Momma

I got a nanny job! I recently have decided to go back to work, just as a nanny because I'm not going to have someone else watch Neacel, I just can't do that. I had looked into a few, and they didn't work out because the family wanted to rip me off. One mom wanted to pay me 2.50/hr and watch her daughter from 7am-2pm. I can't do that, its not enough pay. Unless, your friend or family I charge 5/hr. Friends and family its just whatever. So I kept looking for a nanny job then i found one in south jordan watching 2 kids (3 &5) making 50 a day. Its from about 8:30 to 4:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays. Its ideal for my schedule and the ages are perfect. Ocassionally, I will have the other two kids but thats no problem at all.
So I went and had an interview Wednesday and I thought it went really well. She said I would hear from her soon, soon depending on the person can be days away. Well, yesterday I heard from her (after waiting very impatiently) and was offered the job. I have been so excited. I'm going to have my own shopping money and be able to afford things I want. This way it will help us pay off bills too, so that Nick's money can go towards things we NEED and I will take care of the wants. I'm so excited, Ill be making enough to support my shopping and pampering!

Bear Lake

Nick, Neacel and I all went to Bear Lake this year for Raspberry Days. Nick talked about it forever about how excited he was for a raspberry shake and to relax on the lake. Me, not so excited, the shake sounds good but the lake? If any of you know anything about Lake Erie then you know you NEVER get in the water! So lakes just don't sound fun, I think of germs, sewers, some sewage plant sitting right there and just yuck! I get the chills thinking about it!

We went with Kara, Jacob and their cute little family. We spent time walking around the little area set up with cute stuff and great deep fried foods. Nick and I wanted to buy some raspberry jam but I literally just realized we didn't. :-( We had dinner at this great pizza place called Lakeside Pizza and I can honestly say, I have never had a better pepperoni pizza in my life! Bear Lake was amazing! It was so pretty and Neacel loved every minute of it. He kept eating sand and trying to eat the shells but luckily we got the shells out before he got them down. He just kept crawling around and splashing in the water. Nick and Jacob were trying to build a sand castle and Neacel and Lily had a different idea. They wanted to destroy the castle so the guys didn't get very far! Sorry boys! After the lake we went to get the much talked about raspberry shake! OMGoodness, thick, creamy, cold, just all around perfect at the end of the day!
Don't forget to read about our growing boy below!!!!

9 Months

My growing baby boy isn't such a baby anymore! Neacel is doing great, growing like crazy though. We went to his new doctor today, Dr. Palmieri (thanks Jessica, btw she says hi, and was asking how Sophie is doing); she is an AMAZING doctor, everything I have wanted for Neacel and more. The clinic she is in has everything, plus it's close to home. She sat there talking to Neacel and I and made sure every question of mine was answered. When she was checking his tummy and other areas she sat there singing to him. How perfect is that? The office is super kid friendly, nurses were great, everything was organized and quick.

Neacel is growing a ton in some areas and slowing down in others.
Weight: 20 lbs 6 oz (47%)
Height: 27 1/2 inches (21%)
Head: 46.6 (84%)
So basically, he is chunky, short with a big ol' head! That's my boy!
She is guessing that he will be walking by the time he is one. He is at the developmental stage of a 10 month old! That's why she thinks he will be walking soon, her guess was 10 1/2 to 11 months! That's fine with me. I left happy and comfortable with her. We were going to go with her before but the drive wasn't worth it. Now I don't care and wish we would have been going to her since the beginning.
Some of Neacel's 9 month achievements:
-Eats everything (no more baby food, well hardly any).
-Stands up and is cruising
-Says 'Momma' and 'Dad'
-Looks when we point at something
-Talks all the time, even though we don't understand him. But he will have a conversation with us anyway.
-Tries to crawl upstairs but we stop him, I'm not ready for that.
-His newest thing, THROWING A FIT! This includes screaming, hitting, throwing toys, bottle etc, shaking his head no and so on.
-He now has 4 teeth, his top ones still have a little way to come down but either way they are out and being used!

Mommy and Daddy love you Neacel, we are so proud of you and the little man you are becoming!

Busy, Busy Month

This has been a bit of a busier month and I really don't know why!!!

July 3rd Nick went camping with Heston and some of his friends; a guy night type of thing. So I stayed at his parents house along with Brandi and her kids, and Kara and Jacob and their family.

All of us girls plus Reelika went and saw "My Sister's Keeper." That was truly the most depressing movie I have ever seen! Take a box of tissues per person and don't take a pregnant lady!

Then after the movie we all went back to Mom and Dad's. Brandi and I had to run to Walmart for some things; we left the house around midnight and didn't get home till 3am!! We were past slap happy! So we get home and Brandi decides she wants to eat her grapefruit. She goes into the kitchen and stuffs a bag in the fridge (which is already packed to the max). Kara and Jacob are sleeping maybe 15 feet away. So I walk in there and Brandi is laughing, an I put a bag in the fridge too. Brandi is trying to get a bowl out of the cupboard, and knocks them all over the counter and breaks one, she looks at me and says "you think i woke them?" It was time for bed at that point, but we both went and laid on the couches and talked even though neither of us could keep our eyes open. I think we both felt younger that night!

July 4th was spent with family of course. We celebrated all the July birthdays and had a BBQ. That night Brandi, Heston, their kids, Kara, Jacob and all their kids plus Nick, Neacel and I, went to Sandy to see fireworks. Even though it was way past Neacel's bedtime he stayed awake and watched the fireworks for a few minutes. He really had no reaction to them. I guess he was too tired to care. He just sat there with his mouth open. When his head started to bob, Nick handed him to me and immediately Neacel cuddles up and goes right to sleep! We had a wonderful 4th and I'm so thankful for the time I got to spend with Nick's family!

July 16th-19th we went to California to visit my Dad and his wife Lori. We had a great time! We got to the airport in just enough time to get through security and run to the gate then board. Well, we get to the gate and under the flight info it says delayed. So then we hear over the speaker that we aren't leaving util about 6:30 instead of 5:30. Not a big deal so I call Dad and let him know.

Around 6 were hear its delayed until 7. Are you kidding me? So I call Dad again. Then they tell us we have to go to a different gate. Did I mention my kid is teething and not a happy camper, plus hungry and just tired in general?

We finally left Salt Lake around 8!!! That's Neacel's bedtime so he was exhausted! He was the screaming and crying baby that people can't stand on a plane. I was so embarrassed, but we couldn't get him to sleep.

We got a Cali just fine and grabbed a bite to eat. By about 11, Neacel is still up! He didn't go to bed till around midnight or after!

Friday we went to San Fransisco and had a great bowl of clam chowder; that wasn't the only thing we did i promise. First we went to China Town, and walked around. It was fun looking at all the all the littel tourist items, and at the grocery stores, and pharmacies, and all the interesting things they sell there. When we were leaving, we saw a Chinese woman throwing up in the gutter, Nick though it was neat, and was sad he didn't have the camera ready.

We grabbed lunch at this amazing little place at Fisherman's Wharf. Now I usually hate seafood, the thought of eating something that was swimming in the ocean that morning is gross. But the clam chowder from this place is amazing! You never get a yucky piece of clam that you are chewing forever. I also had fetucini with fresh bay shrimp, Nick had crab cakes, and neacel ate a ton of oyster crackers.

So after lunch we walked around and down to Pier 39 to see the sea lions. Neacel wasn't impressed. He was so tired he just cried the whole time. Dad finally just walked around with Neacel while Nick and I went into a few stores, when we came out Neacel was completely passed out!

We stopped and got a thing of sourdough, of course from Boudin (Mmmmmm), but we got one in the shape of a flower with asiago cheese on it! Before we left fisherman's wharf, we stopped at this old fashioned arcade. There were lots of really neat arcade machines from the turn of the century. Nick found them totally interesting, and didn't want to leave. We then went to Ghiradelli and bought some chocolate squares and had one of their wonderful sundaes!

Saturday we went to the Armstrong National Park where there are HUGE redwood trees. We had a nice little picnic and just drove around enjoying the scenery. After that, we went out to Bodega Bay and stopped at one of the beaches. Neacel loved it, especially the sand! Then we went out to the Coast Guard base and thought about going fishing but decided not to.

Nick got us all pizza from a local Chicago style pizza place. The pizza was a personal sized one and it was HUGE! it was normal crust then cheese and then another layer of crust then your toppings; talk about filling. I could only eat a piece and I was still struggling with it!

We all crashed early that night; we were just exhausted. Sunday we went to Napa Valley and had a little picnic, we had some assorted cheeses, salami, and baguette slices.

We then went home and made sure everything was packed and ready to go. Before we left, Nick really wanted to go to In & Out and get a burger so we did that on our way to the airport.

Luckily we didn't have a delayed flight this time, but Neacel was really cuddly which isn't normal, but we just wrote it off as teething. So as soon as we get on the plane, I turn to sit and Neacel throws up, all over the place! It's on me, the floor, the chair in front of me (where someone was already sitting) and the chair I was going to sit in. Talk about being embarrassed, but I just felt so bad. Neacel had never thrown up before so you could tell he was just not feeling well. So we get it all cleaned up and I keep apologizing to the lady that Neacel almost barfed on. The bright side was, no one sat by us, and Neacel got his own seat.

So we get home and Nick's dad picks us up from the airport and Neacel threw up again in the van. He really wasn't feeling well. Nick stayed home from work the next day and Neacel didn't throw up but he did have a fever. The highest point was 101.5, poor baby boy!

The weekend in Cali was a lot of fun. We got to see tons of things and spend time with family. We plan on going out there once a year at least. Just depends on money and everything! Coming home is always nice but vacations are always needed!

Pioneer day, a Utah State holiday! Nick had to work unfortunately but he brought home pizza and fireworks and we went to Sonic for a sundae! We woke Neacel up just so he could watch the fireworks, but he really wasn't interested. Too tired to care I guess!

Here are some pictures from Cali, I'm not posting them all because there are just too many.

They aren't in any sort of order, I just picked some and posted them!!

8 Months Old

Yesterday was Neacel's 8 month birthday! I can't believe how fast he is growing up. He eats everything now, literally! The other night we were eating spaghetti and Neacel stood there screaming at us. Nick gave him just a few little bites but he loved it and kept yelling for more. The only food he hates is peas, but eats everything else.He is crawling a ton and gets into everything. He has bumps and bruises to prove it! He mostly loves standing though and is starting to cruise along things. I personally don't think it's going to be to long before he is walking! He says "da da" and every once in a while "ma ma". His top teeth are really giving him problems. He is in a ton of pain and has really bad diarrhea, so the diaper rash is just got going away. He wakes up just screaming at night. Poor thing! The teeth haven't cut thru but its just everything that happened the first time so I'm just waiting for them to show up. His newest things that we can't stand is his high pitched scream that he does all the time! It's horrible and just about sends us both thru the roof!!!

This weekend the 3 of us are going to Cali to visit my dad and his wife. Another nice little vacation. We are excited to go. This will be the first time they meet Nick and Neacel (of course) We are going to San Fran for a day but other then that we don't know what is out there so we don't know what else we want to do.

Our trip to Ohio

June 16th -June 22nd

We had an amazing time. The day we got there tons of family came over to see us and of course to meet Neacel. Neacel was the main attraction the whole time.

That day he started sitting himself up! He loved all the attention he was getting. We went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Little Italy, Cedar Point Amusment Park, Pittsburgh (so Nick could finally try the sandwhich from Primanti Bros), and the Cleveland Zoo. We went plenty of other places but those were the main ones.

On the 21st Neacel started crawling and hasn't stopped since then. He is into everything now. He loves pulling things down on top of him and of course electric plugs! That's my boy.

Everyone just fell in love with him, but I mean who can't love that boy? It was so nice to see my family and a few friends.

We have so many pictures and everything from the trip so we will just let you enjoy those.

I didn't put them all on here, just the cute/interesting ones!!

After 23 years....

I broke my first bone! Not a major break just a little one but still this is hilarious to me. Monday I was getting the house cleaned and I had 2 baskets of laundry to put away and Neacel was throwing a fit. So instead of carrying them one by one to our room I thought why not push them both to the room then run out here and get Neacel. So I'm pushing these baskets thru the house and in the hallway I stub my baby toe. ( that spot where the door frame and the floor board meet...that little cut out corner) I just start trying to breathe again and start punching the wall. Now I know stubbing your toe is never a wonderful feeling but holy crap did this hurt. I pull myself together and go about my day noticing that my toe is bruised and swollen. Nick took a look at it and we decided to just tape it and not to worry about calling the doctor or anything. By Wednesday my toe is killing me and walking isn't an easy task. Nick says I should call the doctor and explain what happened and see what they say. The nurse calls back and said I need to come in and have a x-ray done to see if its broken. I told my mom and we sat on the phone laughing thinking of everything Ive done in my past and how I have never broken a bone. Nick takes me to the doctor later that day and after everything the doctor comes in and says its broken. Just a small break but broken. I burst out laughing! I couldn't help it. As much as a wild child I was and all the other things that have happened Ive never broken a bone Ive gotten stitches and sprained things, but stubbing my toe while pushing laundry did it. I laughed pretty much the whole time we were there. I still find it funny. Doctor said it should be better in about 3 weeks and to just keep it taped. Talk about luck, next week we are going to Ohio and have tons of things planned. Good thing I can still do them all!!
Just a few other little things. On May 22nd Neacel said "da da" we don't know if he knew what he was saying but either way he said it. Neacel is so close to crawling but has found a few other ways of getting around the house. We started brushing his teeth and he loves it. He is sitting up really well now. Still is eating us out of house and home but we have added new things to his food possibilities. Cheerios, Gerber Puffs, yogurt, and almost anything off our plate...except things that he could have allergies to. He will be 7 months tomorrow and I'm having a little bit of a hard time with that. We are just a little bit over half way done with his first year. Time is just flying by and I hate it.

We leave Tuesday morning for Ohio and a fun filled vacation. Cedar Point, the zoo, Pittsburgh, Kalahari(water park), and who knows what else! My mom is the only one on my side of the family that has seen Neacel, and so everyone else is dying to see him.
About 2 weeks ago we stayed in Midway with Nicks parents, just a mini vacation. Nick left early in the morning and his parents took me around to see different things. I left Midway wanting to go to the Crater and scuba dive. I am obsessed with this now and plan on scuba diving there before I'm 30!
Homestead Crater in Midway, UT - It is a 55-foot tall, beehive-shaped limestone rock that nature has hollowed out where the water bubbles up from the earth heated to a perfect 96 degrees. The crater is a 60-foot-deep, 100-foot-wide shaft that’s filled with geothermally heated water.

The Baby Safe Ball

New BabySafe Ball Makes Shaking Your Infant Guilt And Injury Free

We are considering getting this since we are in the middle of round 2 with teething.
Since neither of us would consider actually shaking him, this is a safe alternative. I feel it's perfect!
